Geiger Correctional Facility to close

Inland Northwest Business Watch has learned that Spokane County will close their Geiger Correctional Facility which is located at 3507 S. Spotted Rd. near Spokane International Airport on the West Plains. The county plans to move inmates out of Geiger to facilities in other counties jails to help balance Spokane Counties budget. The Geiger Correctional Facility has been an issue over the last few years largely due to the age of the jail. The jail was originally built as military barracks and hasn't been sufficiently upgraded due to budget cuts,etc... . Geiger as of today employs about 80 and the status of those jobs is vague but some may end up at the Spokane County Jail in Spokane.There is also no timeline in place for closure so please stay tuned for more as I get it.
