Downtown Coeur d' Alene has evolved greatly over the years going from quaint logging town strip of bars and struggling business mixed in with a much higher vacancy rate. But while Coeur d' Alene is not a issue free community it's Downtown core has become a lot busyier and more successful. Today Downtown Coeur d' Alene is the heart of the community with quaint shops, boutiques and businesses geared largely to the tourists that frequent Coeur d' Alene during the summer months.
But if you live in the Spokane and Coeur d' Alene area chances are you already know of it's successes but what you may not know is another currently vacant building directly on Sherman Ave. is set to undergo a major renovation and addition changing the look of the eastern portion of downtown.
The former Midas Muffler and TnT Auto Repair Building at the corner of Sherman Ave. and 6th Ave will be redone in the near future. The building will be added onto in the front going out into the existing parking area with new space for a restaurant / coffee shop to open. Also attached to the building in the front will be 1,000 square feet of new outdoor patio space.
The older portion of the building will also be completely redone as well to create about 4,000 square feet of new retail space.
Design work on this project is being done by Uptic Studios of Spokane and leasing for the 2 new spaces is being done by Kiemle & Hagood Company of Spokane and Coeur d' Alene.
Work is also continuing on a couple of other buildings in the Downtown Coeur d' Alene. Keep watching Inland Northwest Business Watch for more on those projects.
