Big changes in store for the Bennett Block and former Cyrus O'Leary's site in Downtown Spokane

The look of Downtown Spokane will change greatly over the next few months with major renovation projects being purposed at a couple of Downtown buildings. And one of the more noticeable will be the renovations and new construction at the Bennett Block building in the 500 block of W. Main nearby both River Park Square and the landmark Auntie's Bookstore in the Liberty Building.

New building plans call for adding new retail and restaurant space, including a possible coffee shop directly east of the main building. The plan calls for creating a new main public entrance to the 3 story building allowing visitors to come inside to access the shops and restaurants similar to enclosed shopping mall.

The project which was designed by Spokane architecture firm Nystrom and Olson Architecture will include many updates inside with a remodel to create what the project's marketing info describes as a Pacific Northwest Modern feel blending raw steel with wood and adding new larger windows for the ground floor storefronts among many other new upgrades.

No word as of the date of writing this article as to when construction will begin or a completion date for the new building. Also it's a bit up in the air as to if the existing tenants will stay however as of now it appears the tenants will be the same. Current businesses in the Bennett Block building include Rocky Rocco's Pizza,Mizuna , Spokane Exercise Equipment among a few others.

Marketing of the new project is being done locally by Goodale & Barbieri Company Real Estate of Spokane. Asking prices range from 18.00 to 22.00 per square foot.
