About a month ago I reported on the impending closure of Mel's Nursery , a long time North Spokane nursery / greenhouse and gift shop. But I'm now happy to report Mel's will stay in business but in a different location and in a bit of a different form.
Mel's is being forced out of their site at 8800 N. Division just feet south of the N. Division Y by a sale of the property to the businesses long time neighbor Wendle Motors. The owners of Mel's are OK with the sale to Wendle but it does require some action on their part which originally meant to close their business.
But enough people spoke up and now Mel's has announced via the businesses Facebook page that Mel's will move instead of closing completely. Mel's will soon relocate to space that is currently being renovated in the Wandermere Shopping Center at the corner of N. Division and Hastings Rd. only a couple of miles north of the businesses current location.
Mel's new space is located directly next door to Sweet Frostings Bakery's new location. The new store will open sometime on October with an exact opening date coming. The new store will be smaller then the current store however and while some products will be the same the store will be different. The new store will carry merchandise from Brighton , Toms, Baby Dept., furniture , various apparel items and due to the season the store will initially open with a selection of holiday items.
