While the amount of new retail and industrial business openings appears to be going through a bit of a lull right now ( due to the winter season, most likely ). The new restaurant scene in Spokane and Coeur d' Alene is still very much alive.
And 2 of the more highly anticipated new restaurants in Spokane have opened up shop recently. Both in North Spokane and both in a new development called Cedar Crossing .
Cedar Crossing itself is located on the Five Mile Prairie section of Spokane. The development is brand new and can be found near the intersection on N. Cedar St and Francis Ave. . Cedar Crossing brings with it 4 new commercial buildings and about 22,000 square feet of new space. The site will also be home to a new apartment complex which is also opening now. But enough about the project itself, Let's take a look at the 2 new restaurants there. They are:
The Boiler Room
The Boiler Room is a new locally owned and operated restaurant. They describe themselves as "Craft Pizza & Swill " . And just what is swill? The swill side of their business is the bar menu. In addition to a good selection of specialty craft pizza's , The Boiler Room also has a good list of beers , wines and cocktails.
The Boiler Room is in building 3 of Cedar Crossing with their official address being, 6501 N. Cedar St #3A . The Boiler Room occupies about 3600 square feet of space and an additional 1200 square feet of patio space. And it's not just the delicious menu that The Boiler Room brings, it's also local jobs as the business also employs 28.
The Boiler Room uses ingredients that are local and sold from local farmers. The beer menu includes 12 taps of micro brews and there are even pre-prohibition cocktails available.

Waddell's Brewpub and Grille / Waddell's Brewing Co.
If the Waddell's name sounds familiar, it should, because this new establishment is a second location of Waddell's Neighborhood Pub and Grille at 4318 S. Regal St. on the South Hill. The South Hill Waddell's was also one of a select few local restaurants to be featured on the Food Network's hit TV show , Diner's, Drive Inn's and Dive's when the show filmed in and around Spokane a couple of years ago.
The new Waddell's location at Cedar Crossing is certainly similar to the original location. But there are a few exceptions. The most noticeable is probably the beer, as now Waddell's also owns a brewing co. which is on site at the North side store.
While other beers are available in the restaurant, brews are being sold that are produced by Waddell's new master brewer Bryan Utigard . More info on the beers being made by Waddell's Brewing Co. can be found at this web site-

And on the restaurant side of the business, there is room to seat 160 and a event room which can seat up to 75. Waddell's new location is also home to several large TV's to catch all the big games and live music and dj's are often available in the aforementioned event room.
The Cedar Crossing Waddell's is in building 1 of the new development with the businesses address being 6501 N. Cedar. The new location takes up about 7,200 square feet of total space and employs 45.
