Global Neighborhood Thrift moves processing center, expands store

Just like it says on their website, Global Neighborhood Thrift is more then just a thrift store. The store, which stands at 902 W. Indiana, by the corner of Indiana & Monroe is operated as a venture of Global Neighborhood. Global Neighborhood is a non profit 501c3 community benefit organization that is locally based. They use the store to provide former refugees opportunities and even in many cases employment within the store. So, it always makes me feel good to report on a place doing good expanding!

Their site on Indiana had housed both the main store and a processing center for merchandise and incoming donations. But due to growth Global Neighborhood has purchased a separate site and recently moved all processing center operations over to the new building. The new processing center has about 17,000 square feet of space and is located at the corner of 3rd & Sherman (323 S. Sherman), just east of Downtown. The new processing center also opens up the non-profit for future developments.

And with the Processing center gone from the Global Neighborhood Thrift's main center it is allowing them to expand their open to the public retail store. The thrift store will be expanding it's furniture offerings and opening a new furniture outlet in the space that the processing center had occupied. The new furniture outlet I'm told is already open for business, although they are always open to donations.

In addition to furniture, Global Neighborhood Thrift is a full service thrift store with clothing , shoes, housewares, electronics and more. And, of course like any thrift store, pricing is significantly lower then the mainstream stores.
