A growing and very popular California based burger chain looks to be coming to Spokane. No, it's not In & Out but I think Spokane will surely get in the The Habit of going to The Habit Burger Grill.
Building permits we're recently filed to construct a new building for The Habit Burger Grill at 6710 N. Division. This is the vacant lot at Division & Lyons where a Popeye's Chicken had been planned to be built. Little is known as of my writing this about the planned new Spokane location but this is a building permit and not just a "pre-development meeting" with a set expiration date of late May 2019. Given this we'll likely see them opening sometime around the Spring of 2019.
The Habit Burger Grill is an Irvine,Ca based chain with about 250 locations in 10 US States and a couple of overseas locations in China and the UAE. They are considered one of the fastest growing fast food chains in the United States with a menu of burgers, chicken and more. A menu can be found on their website which is the link below...

Union Tavern now open on E. Sprague
Life has returned to the abandoned "palmistry building" on E. Sprague. After several months of construction Union Tavern is now open in the building which is located at 1914 E. Sprague.
While it's a new business, Union Tavern's décor plays homage to the history of the building and the area. Historic beer advertisements are scatted through out, old wooden bleacher seats from the Gonzaga Kennel and a bar salvaged out of now closed Casino in Montana. And, even those old palmistry signs are still displayed in the business.
Union Tavern features beer, wine and liquor and even a food menu. Among the offerings are sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, appetizers and more. A small breakfast menu is also available on the weekends. Union Tavern is basically geared towards being cool new local hang out for all ages.

Dry Fly Distilling to build large new production facility
Dry Fly Distilling is growing and soon their products will be enjoyed by adults overseas with a new export agreement. Just last week Dry Fly Distilling announced a new partnership with Seven Seas Export,LLC to distribute Dry Fly products into major Pacific Rim nations. Intially their products will be sold in South Korea under the new parent company Dry Fly Korea,LLC with 4 products - vodka, gin, wheat whiskey and bourbon. And, to keep up with increased demand Dry Fly Distilling will relocate to a new much larger facility. Since their founding in 2007, Dry Fly has operated in the River Walk Building at 1003 E. Trent just east of Downtown. But, the facility on Trent is capable of producing just 30,000 maximum annual gallons and the new planned facility will be able to produce 250,000 maximum annual gallons.
The new Dry Fly Distilling production facility will be a part of the yet to be announced NoDo at Normandie development. NoDo at Normandie will be a 5.2 acre mixed use urban village that will also include medium density housing, office and retail uses. The site is the former City of Spokane fleet services center on Normandie, just north of Downtown. Dry Fly will occupy a 24,000 square foot building in the project with the new plant planned come online in Jan. 2020.
We don't have a rendering of the planned production facility, but KXLY does, so check out their article on this topic for a sneak peek-

Nectar Wine and Beer is still coming to South Perry
In the world of commercial real estate and construction it seems as if nothing goes as planned. Even writing this blog there have been countless places that have missed there opening dates leaving us all guessing. But, one such local mystery has been Nectar Wine and Beer's planned and even announced new second location.
Originally announced in September of 2016 they we're to open a second location in the Spring of 2017. But, after a bit of negotiation issues we have learned Nectar has now signed a lease and the a new Nectar Wine and Beer is in fact coming to the South Perry neighborhood with the owner saying they will be selecting a contractor soon.
The hope is to have this new space open sometime in the Spring of 2019 in the newer building at 907 S. Perry. Assuming the same plan remains the new place will be very similar to the original Nectar Wine and Beer which has called the Kendall Yards Business District home since it's opening in 2015.
Nectar Wine and Beer is a locally owned and operated specialty shop / bar featuring fine wines from around the region, craft beers and some meats and cheeses. They also have become well known for there many events, which will likely continue on at the new second location on South Perry.
Keep watching for more...
And, for more info on Nectar Wine and Beer find them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/nectarwineandbeer
They also do have a website but I'm waiting on linking that as it looks to be hacked right now...
