Radio Spokane has launched a new radio station that's sort of a re-branding from a previous station. Mapleton Communications, which does business as Radio Spokane, has switched the format of KGA 1510 AM and brought on a translator station at 103.5 to re-broadcast the channel to the more common FM radio.
The station switched just this week and now plays a mix of sports and hip hop, geared to take on Hot 96.9 Spokane's other hip hop geared top 40 station. The station will primarily be a music station but will continue on with games from Gonzaga, Spokane Chiefs and the Spokane Indians, which is a holdover from KGA's previous sports format.
This is the first radio station launch in Spokane market since Alt 96.1 took the place of a country station back in March.
