U Haul is wasting no time in opening their new location within what was the last K Mart store in Spokane. In fact the new facility , now called U Haul Moving & Storage of East Town , is already open for business in a temporary showroom space where the K Mart garden center once was. Many U Haul trucks have already been parked in the former parking lot out front, all ready to be rented.
Like most U Haul branded locations guests can rent their trucks and trailers for moving but also find towing equipment, U Box portable storage containers and even moving supplies. Work will also begin to convert the remainder of the 115,992 square foot building into self storage units.
In all U Haul Moving & Storage of East Town will feature 700 indoor self storage units. Giving customers access to climate controlled rooms with what they say will be high tech security features and affordable price points. Propane and professional hitch installation will also be offered at the site in the near future.
Once complete they estimate this new location will employ approximately 15. Hours of operation are 8-5 M-S. and 9-5 on Sunday. More info can be found on http://uhaul.com

New Maverik rising at Ruby & Montgomery
Construction of the actual building has already begun for a new Maverik gas station and convenience store, opening soon north of Downtown Spokane. This is the latest in a series of new locations in our area, with even more planned.
This Maverik will be just Southwest of the intersection of Ruby and Montgomery, with the building actually facing Ermina Ave. . The business will take up most of the block, leaving just the Budget Lot used car dealership remaining of the original structures that once occupied the land. Plans call for this location to have fuel pumps and a 4300 square foot convenience store with beer, wine and the "bonfire" brand of hot foods that are sold in most Maverik's.
This will be the 8th location for the Maverik gas station chain in the Spokane area, and the 10th in the Inland Northwest. An impressive feat for a company who just began opening locations in our area in 2013. But they aren't done growing here just yet, more locations are also planned at:
W. Pointe Pkwy at I-90 in Post Falls ( also already under construction )
Mullan Ave. at Hwy 41 in Post Falls
Barker at Montgomery, just south of I-90 in Spokane Valley
Government Way at Dalton in Coeur d' Alene
And, possibly more?

Walgreens, the huge national pharmacy chain is coming to Downtown Spokane. But, this won't be a traditional Walgreens as most people know them, that's because this store will be part of their newer community pharmacy concept of stores. The Mango Tree Indian Kitchen + Tap House to replace Hill's in Downtown Spokane
Hills Restaurant & Lounge was a favorite of many, but as many now know the Downtown eatery closed their doors for the last time on Feb. 28th, the owners cite many reasons for this closure. But, while Hill's is no more their building won't be empty for very long.
The building, which can be found at 401 W. Main, across from Auntie's Bookstore has already been leased and will continue to be a resturant. It will become a new location of The Mango Tree Indian Kitchen + Tap House with renovations to begin later this month.
The Mango Tree opened just last year over in Coeur d' Alene and is actually affiliated with small Canadian chain. The menu however is somewhat different then that of their Canadian locations. The menu of The Mango Tree is focused on curry dishes and grilled items although the restaurant has most all common Indian dishes from Tandoor Chicken to Butter Chicken, Kebab's and everything in-between. As is implied by the name dinners also can order from a selection of beers and wines and appitzers and desserts are available.
The new Mango Tree location in Downtown Spokane is planned to open sometime in May.
More info can be found by finding them on Facebook or at http://the-mango-tree-restaurant.business.site
