Capriotti's Sandwich Shop coming to Coeur d' Alene

Caprotti's Sandwich Shop is a Las Vegas based sandwich shop chain that has enjoyed a lot of growth recently. They also do have a following, in fact we've even had a few emails asking us when Caprotti's is coming to the Spokane / Coeur d' Alene area

Well, the answer to when they are coming to our area is ... very soon actually. An alert reader was quick to point out that a Post Falls based franchise owner had filed building permits to remodel and open a new Caprotti's restaurant location in Coeur d' Alene.

According to permits the new Coeur d' Alene Caprotti's will be at 305 W. Appleway, just east of US 95. The building was built new just a few years ago for a relatively short-lived Chipotle Mexican Grill location. It has sat vacant ever since Chipotle left in late 2018.

The new Coeur d' Alene franchise of Caprotti's Sandwich Shop is part of their recent expansion plans. The Coeur d' Alene location is listed as a new franchise is recent company press release noting they have secured 60 new locations during the first quarter of 2021, 30 under the more established Caprotti's name and another 30 under Wing Zone, which is a brand wing and burger restaurants that the company just recently acquired. The Coeur d' Alene store is listed joining Caprotti's and not Wing Zone.

Currently the Coeur d' Alene location appears to be the only location planned in the Spokane / Coeur d' Alene area, with others listed dotting the map from Suffolk County, NY to Tulsa to Santa Monica. Currently the company reports over 100 locations but aims for 500 by 2025 and was even ranked #17 of Fast Casual Magazine's Movers & Shakers list of 2020. So, perhaps more stores will be coming? we'll be watching, and in the meantime check out their restaurant's at- http://capriottis.com

Betty Jean's BBQ planning a new restaurant in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood

Many foodies in the Inland Northwest go about their day, not knowing there is a small but mighty Authentic Carolina BBQ restaurant going strong on the West Plains. The reason being that restaurant, Betty Jean's BBQ, has been serving from a small food court type space in the Main Exchange at Fairchild AFB. Meaning you would need access to the Base to try Betty Jean's menu.

But that's about to change as Betty Jean's is making plans to come into Spokane, with a new restaurant coming soon to the South Hill's Lincoln Heights neighborhood. Betty Jean's BBQ is planning to open in the building at 2926 E. 29th, and they hope to open sometime before Spring with the owners working diligently to see the new location come to fruition.

The new South Hill Betty Jean's BBQ will more of a sit-down style establishment in a building that was last used as Thai Bamboo restaurant. Plans call for an expanded menu, online ordering, alcohol and even expanded hours. Just like the present, Betty Jean's also provides catering services for large and small events, contact them directly for rates and info.

16 Cents, 3 shoes & 5 Socks planning new location in Spokane Valley

16 Cents, 3 Shoes & 5 Socks is one of the most impressive business sucess story's you'll likely ever hear. Owner Jason McSteen walked into Union Gospel Mission on Dec. 1st, 2012 with only 16 cents, 3 shoes and 5 socks in his possession.  From there he found a new lease on life starting the furniture business that boasts an unusual but inspiring name, out of a local garage.

And, today I get the report of the business's newest location, the business's fifth store overall. Located at 15303 E. Sprague, Suite B, in Spokane Valley, the new store is only a bit west of the Sprague and Sullivan intersection, adjacent to the Paul Mitchell School. This store will be the largest location for 16 Cents at approximately 20,000 SF. It's also their first store in Spokane Valley as they also have 3 existing locations in Spokane and 1 in Airway Heights.

16 Cents is a furniture and mattress store with a full line of furniture and mattresses. Easy financing programs and delivery are offered to customers at all locations. For more information on what they carry, visit their website at- http://16cents3shoes5socks.com

Progress watch- 206 Riverside

The Progress Watch post feature of this website is intended to check up on an exciting construction project around the Spokane / Coeur d' Alene area to see its progress as not everyone drives past random construction sites as much as I do. But this project likely has been noticed by most anyone who has been to Downtown Spokane recently, given its prime location and size.

But I couldn't pass up "borrowing" this cool photo the developer recently posted to their own social media (used with permission of course).

Photo courtesy of Dechase Miksis, I believe they are already up one more floor since this photo was taken.

Located at the corner of Riverside and Browne, near the Convention Center and the University District sits a new development presently called 206 Riverside. The project is being constructed with Bouten Construction as the general contractor, architectural design by GGLO Design and is the first project in Spokane for developer Dechase Miksis, who has offices in Eugene, Bend and Boise.

The project is estimated to be completed in the Summer of 2022 and will be a six-story structure with 137 apartments that will include a mixture of studios, one- and two-bedroom units. Neighborhood retail will also be utilized on the ground floor of the project and might include a coffee shop, market or restaurant opening up into an on-site plaza.

Stay tuned as we plan to keep an eye on this and all the other construction projects in the Inland Northwest.

Construction starts for Post Falls Pavillion, a new food truck court coming to Post Falls

The owners of The Prairie Pavilion food truck court at the corner of Prairie Ave and Heartland in Coeur d' Alene recently broke ground on a new second location of sorts. Site work has commenced for the new Post Falls Pavillion, on Horsehaven Rd., a short bit to the west of Highway 41, in a growing area of Post Falls.

The Post Falls Pavilion is currently set to open in the Spring of 2022. Similar to its Coeur d Alene counterpart, the development will include a fixed location of the Jitterz Espresso chain. They indicate that it's too early to release the names of the actual food trucks that will lease space there. However, the site will have room for 15 food trucks outside and an additional 4 trucks in an indoor area.

Follow them on social media for updates as the construction at the site progresses. We'll also likely have more on the project in the future with new food truck openings, etc...

Centennial Properties announces plans for new Downtown Apartments on Chancery Building site

Centennial Real Estate Investments, which is the real estate division of the Cowles Corp., has announced another part of their redevelopment of the former Spokesman Review Production Facility Block in Downtown Spokane.

The production facility was emptied in 2020 when Cowles relocated their newspaper production operations to a new facility in Spokane Valley. Dry Fly Distilling has since taken over 32,000 SF of that building for their own production and tasting room. While plans for the former Spokesman-Review production facility we're coming into focus Centennial says in a recent release that they took the time to evaluate options for its adjacent site at 1023 W. Riverside (The Chancery Building).

That building was vacated in 2019 due to safety and operational concerns.

"We agree with our partners and community leaders that housing must be a priority at this time, given Spokane's unprecedented growth and limited rental market. We see a need for housing that accessible to our working professionals and others who work in Downtown Spokane. Stable housing is essential for healthy communities"  says Doug Yost, VP of Centenial Real Estate Investments.

The proposed plans include a new 40-50 unit, 2-bedroom and 1-bedroom apartment complex with modern amenities and community courtyard and nods to the architectural details currently found with the previous building.

The new building would join The M and The Chronicle Building apartments in Centennial's already operating Downtown apartment portfolio. " We have waiting lists on both properties, and I can't remember the last time we had a vacancy at the Chronicle Apartments for more than a week " said Byrn West, VP of the company's property management division.

Stay tuned to this site for more as this project progresses.
