Raising Cane’s applies for building permits in North Spokane

Back in April, Inland Northwest Business Watch was the first to mention that it looked like the popular quick service chicken chain, Raising Cane's was planning a new restaurant location in Spokane. Well, now we can basically confirm that they are planning a location here. Although there is no construction is under way as of yet, the Louisiana based chain has filed for building permits to begin construction at a site in North Spokane.

Plans call for the new restaurant to be constructed at 9252 N. Newport Hwy, on the site of a former and now demolished Burger King restaurant, and ironically nearby a Chic-fil-a restaurant. Plans call for a "ground up construction of a new Raising Cane's restaurant with drive thru and patio" which will be 3,327 square feet with the permit valued at $1.3 million. The general contractor for the project is listed as TBD but the architect is listed as Rocklin,CA based PM Design.

As it is early in the project there is no known opening date or exact construction timeline. This would be the first Raising Cane's location in the Spokane / Coeur d' Alene area, although the company has over 700 locations and is rapidly growing. They also recently filed for plans for another new restaurant in Meridian,ID and has plans for at least 2 restaurants coming soon to the Seattle area.

Rasing Cane's is known for a more basic menu with chicken fingers being the featured item. The company is just one of many currently rapidly expanding chicken restaurants in the United States at the moment. Even here in Spokane there is also 2 more Chic-fil-a's, a Dave's Hot Chicken and a Chicken Shanty restaurant all in various stages of development in the local market.
