SNAP developing Broadway Senior Housing in Spokane Valley

SNAP is currently in the development phase of a project tentatively named Broadway Senior Housing, a new affordable housing development for senior citizens at 6001 E. Broadway Ave. in Spokane Valley. The development will offer 60 units of affordable housing for residents aged 62 and older in a state-of-the-art new construction 4-story building with elevator.

Of the sixty apartments, 57 will be one-bedroom units with 3 two-bedroom units. All units will be fully accessible with additional features for residents with vision and hearing impairments. The apartments are designed for individuals at or below 60% of the area median income. The Spokane Housing Authority will provide rental subsidies for up to half of the units, ensuring residents pay no more than 30% of their adjusted gross income on rent.

In addition to senior housing the Broadway Senior Housing project will also offer supportive services with a service coordinator on staff to help residents connect with essential community resources, enhancing their ability to age in place.

The estimated budget for the Broadway Senior Housing project is $22 million with 90% of the capital funding being secured by a variety of sources, including Spokane Valley, Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Washington State Legislative Capital, Washington State Housing Trust Fund, Spokane County and Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners (SNAP).

General contractor selection will be done through an open RFP/RFQ process in approximately six months. SNAP will provide a more detailed estimated construction timeline in the coming months, architectural work for the project is being done by ZBA Architecture.
