Southwest Airlines expands flights at Spokane International Airport, including new non-stop to Chicago

 Southwest Airline's Summer 2025 schedule is promising new and returning non-stop flight options from Spokane International Airport. The newly expanded schedule provides travelers with new non-stop service from Spokane to Chicago Midway International Airport. It also renews seasonal non-stop service to Dallas Love Field and increases daily Spokane service to Sacramento International Airport.

Southwest Airlines expanded summer schedule runs from June 5th - August 4th 2025. It includes service to Chicago Midway five times a week, Dallas Love Field on Saturday and Sunday and daily service to Sacramento. The expanded service at GEG also helps improve one-stop connections to several destinations across Southwest Airlines' 117 city network, including Austin, Nashville, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Diego, Washington D.C. and more.

Daily Habit Espresso re-opens stand on Country Homes Blvd.

 Most people in Spokane are familiar with the Daily Habit Espresso chain of espresso stands that have been in existence for over two decades. They have now wrapped up the remodel of their oldest location, the stand at 6702 N. Country Homes Blvd. The chain also operates locations at 2124 N. Division, 4627 N. Assembly and 5629 E. Trent.

During construction Daily Habit continued to serve customers from out of a curbside mobile trailer and provided their customers with concierge service with runners delivering orders to their car. Daily Habit Coffee is custom coffee with the largest selection of flavors and what they claim are the best granitas in town. Locally based owners Monte and Katie Yokey are excited to reopen this location and plan to have a week of amazing specials during the grand reopening week.

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers applies for a building permit in Post Falls

 The growing Wichita based quick service restaurant chain, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers looks to be coming to the Inland Northwest. The company recently filed for a building permit with the City of Post Falls for a new restaurant at 498 S. Beck Rd within The Pointe at Post Falls development site.

We reached out to confirm with Freddy's corporate office and we're told they are in the early stages of development for a new restaurant location in Post Falls. Their current plan is to begin construction in the spring with a possible opening in the Summer of 2025. They tell me the location will feature indoor dining, a drive thru and mobile ordering. 

Per building permit data on file with the City of Post Falls, the new restaurant will be slightly larger than 3000 square feet with a valuation of $1.3 million. The general contractor for the project is listed as Wolverine Building Group of Grand Rapids, MI and the architectural design work done by Henderikson Architecture, LLC also of Grand Rapids, MI

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is a growing chain of quick service restaurants serving steakburgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, milkshakes and more. As of 2023 the chain was operating over 500 locations in 35 states. The company already operates a location in Missoula and several in the Boise area.

Aamco Transmission & Total Car Care planning new location new Airway Heights

 Aamco, the Pennsylvania based chain of franchise owned transmission and automotive repair shops in planning a new location on the Western edge of Spokane, near the city of Airway Heights. Plans call for the owners of the other Spokane area Aamco locations to renovate the former Schwan's food service warehouse at 9810 W. Flight Dr. into a full-service auto repair business.

Currently Aamco plans to open there sometime in the Spring but will renovate the space first, so there isn't a set opening date for the new location just yet. The shop will be approximately 7000 square feet with remodeling work planned to be done by Liberty Lake based Liberty Contracting & Development, LLC. Aamco itself has over 500 locations, including ones in North Spokane, Spokane Valley and Coeur d' Alene which will also remain in business.

Fourth Avenue Capital breaks ground on 240-unit apartment community in Liberty Lake

 Fourth Avenue Capital, with offices in Seattle and Spokane has commenced construction on Signal Point Apartment Homes, a luxury suburban apartment community within the mixed-use Meadowwood Technology Campus in Liberty Lake.

The development will feature 240 apartment homes, complimented by an expansive resident clubhouse, gym and leasing center. Move ins are currently projected for mid-2025. "Liberty Lake continues to be one of the most sought-after markets in the Spokane metro area" said Chris Rossman, managing partner with Fourth Avenue Capital. Spokane's first temperance lounge, Patera, opening this week on Sprague.

 Local business, Loving Libations which has provided non-alcoholic beverages service at area events is opening their first brick and mortar location this week on E. Sprague in Spokane.  The new business goes by the name Patera and is located in front of The Clutch at 1507 E. Sprague in the Sprague Union District.

Patera will serve elixirs from Loving Libations, Kava, an Espresso & Tea menu and will also be a vegan plant-based bistro and an apothecary store with elixirs, tinctures, teas and more. Patera will host an official grand opening event on October 30th 5-10pm with live music, tarot card readings and many other vendors for guests to check out.

June & Co. to reopen on Wall St in Downtown Spokane

 June & Co., a defunct local dive bar from the same ownership as Gander & Ryegrass is set to return, just in a new larger space this time. The bar spent a time in a tiny space at 215 W. Main before closing in the fall of 2023. But work is now underway to re-open June & Co early next year.

The establishment which is billed as a "fancy dive bar" is planned to open sometime around Feb. 2025 at 123 S. Wall St. Suite B200 in Downtown Spokane. While the bar with remain small, with a capacity of about 30, the new location is planned to be triple the space of the original place. The new June & Co. will offer a full bar and some limited snacks as this location does not include a kitchen.

Paint In My Hair announces grand opening of new location in Spokane

 Paint In My Hair, a beloved local furniture and home decor store has recently announced the grand opening at their new location on November 2nd and 3rd, from 10a-5p. After losing their lease at the end of July, the woman-owned company has transformed an old auto parts store into a stunning shopping destination. The new store showcases a curated collection of vintage furniture, home decor, and unique gifts.

Konala planning new restaurant in North Spokane, more to come

 Konala, a quick serve restaurant offering healthy fast food options like protein-packed bowls, salads and more is growing and coming soon to Spokane. The business was started in Post Falls in 2023 and expanded to Coeur d' Alene just this year and while both of those locations still remain the eatery recently announced a new multi-unit franchise deal that will bring Konala to Eastern Washington.

In all the franchise deal will bring five new Konala locations to Spokane County. The first of which is under construction now and will occupy a former Carl's Jr restaurant location at 6740 N. Division in North Spokane. Currently that location is planned to open sometime in Jan. 2025. , work is also already underway for other new locations on Sprague in Spokane Valley and another on 29th Ave. on the South Hill, those are still in the planning phase with no set opening dates just yet.

The Little Gym coming soon to Post Falls

 A local Veteran and business owner is bringing a franchise location of The Little Gym to Post Falls, with an opening planned for Monday, October 21st. The Little Gym is an internationally recognized child development program the promises to provide kids with fun and socialization. The Little Gym welcomes children ages four months though 12 years old.

The new Post Falls location of The Little Gym will be operated by Christopher and Tiffany Goodwin, a local husband and wife duo. The Goodwins inspired by their daughter's positive experience at The Little Gym, saw it as a perfect franchise opportunity. With three young children, they are excited to bring this much-needed resource to Post Falls, focusing on helping kids learn, read, grow, and leave with a smile.

Eddie's Kitchen & Tavern to open in North Spokane

 

An exciting new restaurant and tavern called Eddie's Kitchen & Tavern is coming soon in the former location of Mac Daddy's at 10115 N. Newport Hwy in North Spokane. The locally owned and operated establishment is a creation of owners Kevin & Juile Pereira, who we're also the owners of the now closed Lost Boys Garage and Summit Kitchen. I'm told the menu at Eddie's Kitchen will be a combination of favorite menu items from those two restaurants, plus a few new items tossed into the mix.

They are currently renovating the space in hopes of opening for business there in November. They tell me the menu will feature large portions at an affordable price, classic cocktails and locally brewed beers. New Jamaican food truck opens on N. Division

An underserved type of cuisine for this area has arrived in Spokane! Mrs. Donna's Jamaican Food Truck is now open and operating at 2910 N. Division, at the base of the Division St. hill. Mrs. Donna's is open and serving at that site Tues-Sat 11:30-7:00.

Vern's Cafe opens inside the Spokane County Courthouse

                    

Vern Cooks has been a favorite local hot dog cart in the Spokane area for some time, but the locally owned and operated business is growing with the recent opening on Vern's Cafe. The new space is a brick-and-mortar operation located inside the Spokane County Courthouse on Broadway (ground level of the annex building). It is open to the public but does require one to go through a security checkpoint to access.

Pizza Rita to open new location on the South Hill

 One of Spokane's favorite pizza places is growing, with a planned new location coming soon on the South Hill. Pizza Rita is working towards opening their new fourth location at 2525 E. 29th Ave Suite 1A, next door to Northing Bundt Cakes. As of my writing this the opening date isn't set just yet, but they do hope to open the new South Hill store by the end of the year.

Bardic Brewing & Cider planning new location in Downtown Spokane

 Spokane Valley based Bardic Brewing & Cider is growing and planning a new second location planned to open soon in Downtown Spokane. Bardic is planning to take over the former Mountain Lakes Brewing Co. space at the corner of Riverside and Browne (201 W. Riverside).

The new Downtown location is tentatively planned to open sometime in October. In addition to their locally brewed beers the new place will also include a small menu of snack options. They will also continue to operate their original tap room in Spokane Valley at 15412 E. Sprague Ave #14. That brewery is toted as a brewery ran by geeks and family friendly with occasional events such as trivia nights.
